Keeping time nowadays can be done in a number of ways. From cell phones to computers to PDA’s, we have the accurate time right at our fingertips at any given moment. But for some, staying on schedule means the ownership of a wristwatch. And the maintenance of such a watch means the periodic replacement of the watch battery.
First introduced by Energizer in 1957, the watch battery revolutionized the way we powered our watches. No longer was it necessary to wind a watch in order to maintain its operation; the watch battery was the new face of timekeeping and the public responded by making battery-operated watches one of the most popular choices among consumers; manufacturers scrambled to keep pace.
Today, the watch battery is taken mostly for granted; its miniscule presence rarely noticed until it’s time to find a replacement. But luckily, finding a watch battery replacement is neither a pricey nor complicated procedure. For designer watches, it is always best to visit the manufacturer or an authorized dealer. For these particular brands of watches, corresponding parts are often found only through the manufacturer. In this way you can guarantee the consistency of high quality parts – including your watch battery.
For less expensive watches, a watch battery can be found in local retail stores or even in jewelry stores. They are extremely inexpensive and relatively easy to replace. Most important, however, is to ask about your watch’s battery needs when purchasing it. In this way you can be sure you know what to ask for and where to look when your watch battery needs replacing.
The added bonus of the watch battery is its ability to be used in other small pieces of equipment such as hearing aids, remote controls, and calculators – among other items. This can be extremely convenient when you need a quick and temporary watch battery replacement.

Overview of Oris Watches

Oris watches have a long history; it has been loved by people for a long time. When you first see Oris watch, you would be surprised about its luxurious and stylish appearance. They are really perfect!

Oris watches used to follow the more traditional lines of watch design, but recently the company has endeavoured to offer the consumer more up-to-date watch designs, particularly in the sports watches arena. Oris began making sports watches only as recently as the nineteen seventies. Their first sports watch was the Oris Chromoris. Oris still manufacture the Chronoris today, the most recent model being the Chronoris 2005. The Chronoris Chronograph is a simple design made from stainless steel with a black and orange saddle-leather strap; the strap is supposed to emphasize the ’sportiness’ of the watch, however I feel they are better sports watches on the market today. A better sports watch offered by Oris is the TT1 collection. These watches come with mechanical automatic movement with simultaneous indication of 2 individual time zones. You also get a date display at the 3 o’clock position as well as a black dial with luminous display, a curved scratchproof sapphire glass, with water resistance up to 100 meters. In my opinion the Oris TT1 Worldtimer is the best watch in this series. Recently Oris teamed up with the Williams F1 Team to produce the Oris watches for saleWilliams F1 Team sports watch. I’m not a tremendous fan of this watch. Call me a snob, but I wouldn’t want a watch I owned to be known by any other brand except the watch brand. Also, I think if you are looking for a sports watch they are other brands of watches that offer better styling.

The Oris Big Crown Collection belongs to their aviation series. The big crown being a reminder of the early days of aviation when pilots had to adjust their watches whilst wearing thick gloves. This collection of watches is more like what I’d expect from Oris. The Oris Big Crown comes with mechanical automatic movement with stop function display of hours and minutes from the centre, small permanent second at nine o’clock, decentralised minute and hour counters, second counter from the centre, date at three o’clock. The is black guilloché with white numerals and indices, white lacquered hands; all contained in a stainless steel case 316L with applied fluted bezel, screwed case back. The watches are water-resistant to 50 m with plexiglass and black calfskin leather strap with Louisiana croco pattern and security clasp. The watch is also available with metal bracelet. The Oris Big Crown is a very beautifully designed piece of engineering.

The Culture series of Oris replica is what Oris is all about. Currently Oris offer the Frank Sinatra collection and the Miles Collection. These watches come in various models offering chronograph, complication, mother of pearl facia and diamonds) for those who like such things). My favourite collection is without doubt the Artelier collection. The Oris Artelier Chronograph, Oris Artelier Complication and Oris Artelier Lady Date are fine watches, but the Oris Artelier Pointer Date is the jewel in the collection. Oris are famed for their pointer date or sweep calendar. The company first developed this feature in 1938 and the pointer date is pretty much unique to Oris. Most watches display the date through a window on the dial but the Oris pointer date is a third arm that moves anti-clockwise around the face; the days of the months being displayed as another circle of number outside the hour marks: the end of the pointer arm being either a t-shape or the more traditional semi-circle. I own a pointer date Oris watch and am only too delighted to show this unique feature to those who appreciate a fine watch.

There is no question that Oris watches are top rated Swiss watches that are a desired by consumers who appreciate good quality mechanisms with simple but elegant designs. Oris watches are also reasonably priced compared to some other brands of watches and owning a beautiful Oris wristwatch is well within the means of most people. So what are you waiting for? Go and buy a replica Oris for yourself, you also can buy it as a collection

The history of breguet watches

Breguet watches have a long history, they have a luxuries and stylish appearance. When you first see Breguet watch, you must be shocked by its design! You would wonder who designed such a beautiful watch and what’s the history of Breguet watch?

Breguet watch founded in 1775 by Abraham Louis Breguet. Breguet was not only a gifted watchmaker, but also a clever businessman. He invented a payment scheme for a special series of watches which are known as the montres a souscription. These watches had a symmetrically built Lepine caliber, a ruby cylinder escapement, a temperature-compensated balance and the above mentioned shock protection for the balance-staff. They had only one hand, but reading the time is no problem thanks to the finely detailed dial. These subscription watches were made in small series of twelve to twenty at a time; customers had to make a down-payment when ordering a watch which allowed Breguet replicato finance production of the whole series.

Among his numerous inventions, the best-known are the Breguet spiral, found until today in every quality watch and wristwatch, and the tourbillon, the whirlwind – an ingenious device that Breguet invented to compensate for gravity influences on the balance spring in pocket watches. Among his other inventions were a new striking mechanism for repeaters, a new escapement, the so-called echappement naturel, similar to the chronometer escapement (1789), in 1790, the parachute shock protection system, the cylinder escapement with a ruby cylinder, and improvements of Perrelet’s automatic winding mechanism, implemented in his around forty Perpetuelles.

Furthermore, replica Breguet made what we consider today as the first Grande Complication in the history of horology, the watch known as the Marie-Antoinette. This watch was commissioned by the French queen’s guard Monsieur de la Croizette with the explicit order that it should contain all known complications and the greatest possible number of parts made of gold. There were no restrictions as to the time for making the watch or the price. This Breguet watch was only finished in 1827 which means that neither the unfortunate queen (Marie-Antoinette was guillotined in 1793) nor the master watchmaker himself (Breguet died in 1823) ever saw the completed watch. The Marie-Antoinette was a self-winding watch with a perpetual calendar, equation of time indication and a minute repeater. It has disappeared since 1983 when it was stolen from the Jerusalem Institute of Islamic Art.

Nowadays, there are still have replica breguet watches on sale in shops and online stores. These replica breguet watches are the same as the real one looks in appearance. Our website: http://www.patekphilippewatches.us/ provide high quality and outstanding replica Breguet watches, you don’t need to worry about that someone would know that the watch you wear is a replica one.

The characteristic Breitling watch is much larger than the standard face, in part to display the many functions available on most of them. The large face provides better visibility, of course but it is obvious that most of these functions would not be used in day-to-day living conditions. The watch itself has become a luxury status symbol and is widely copied and marketed in the replica market. The primary intent in the production of the watch was as a tool used by aviators. These watches contain features, which might prove helpful to people in this occupation.

Other models have an automatic winding mechanism, which has no electronic components. Additional features found in many Breitling watches are a date display, moon phase, split second and the flyback function.

The manufacturing of all Breitling watches is done in the city of La Chaux-de-Fonds where so many other products related to Swiss watches are produced. Breitling’s history goes back to 1884, but the product most associated with the Breitling is more properly classified as a wristwatch chronograph. The instrument was popular with pilots from the beginning. By 1936, Breitling was named the official supplier for the Royal Air Force. The Chronomat, produced in 1942 contained a circular slide rule.

The expansion of the brand to the U.S. military and the creation of the Navitimer in 1954 containing the first navigation computer made the watch the hands on favorite by pilots from that time forward. Astronaut Scott Carpenter was wearing a Breitling Cosmonaught chronograph during his Aurora 7 orbital flight. 1969 saw the introduction by Breitling of the world’s first self-winding chronograph, which revolutionized the entire Swiss watch industry. In 1984 Breitling reintroduced the Chronomat, which became Breitling’s best selling model, a position it retains today. Another popular model, the Aerospace was launched in 1985.

The Breitling Emergency version has been credited with the life saving feature of a radio transmitter broadcasting on the distress frequency of 121.5 MHz. This feature can be used as a ELT-type beacon. For military use, the Breitling can be equipped with a transmitter which broadcasts on the military frequency. After 2009, the Satellite system will no longer the frequency, although the signal was never strong enough to receive signals from the miniaturized transmitter.

Two British pilots activated their Breitling Emergency watches transmitters after their helicopter crashed in Antarctic waters. They were successfully rescued by pilots homing in on their transmitter signals.

Those who do not hold a pilot’s license can own the Breitling Emergency only by signing an agreement which states they will bear all costs of a rescue mission should their emergency beacon be accidentally triggered.

Breitling manufactures both quartz models such as the Aeromarine Colt and mechanical steel cased models such as the Breitling Bentley Motors model featuring a 38 jewel self-winding movement which is priced at over $7000. There are also Breitling models in titanium and gold, although they are somewhat less expensive than those with the self-winding movement.

The Swiss watch industry experience probably its worst ever crisis in the 1970s. Their fiercest [...]

The Swiss watch industry experience probably its worst ever crisis in the 1970s. Their fiercest competitors were the Japanese, but they had been outclassed when the “Delirium” was launched in 1979. “Delirium” was the thinnest wristwatch ever made and it also came with a limited number of components.

It was the founding of the SMH, a Swiss Corporation for Microelectronics and Watch Making that revolutionized the industry. As an answer to the mid seventies crisis, they launched Swatch in 1983. The Swatch watch marked the upturn in the producers’ fortune, as its most important features were both high quality and a very affordable price. This slim watch, made of no more than fifty-one components, was just the beginning for what is now known as the world’s most dynamic watch company.

In time, the Swatch watches have indeed become a collector’s item, mainly due to their variety of design, but also because of their high quality standards. Since the first Swatch watch was launched in 1983, the company has sold over two hundred million watches, and has come to include other famous brands, apart from the original Swatch brand. Some of these famous brands are Longines, Omega, Mido, Rado, and Pierre Balmain.

In order to stay ahead of their competitors, the producers of the Swatch watches needed to provide their clients with high quality products. But this is not the only requirement for success. Swatch watches also had to come with highly affordable prices, which meant that the company had to come with some clever tricks in order to ensure this killer combination. Their first smart move was to use about fifty components for their Swatch watches, as opposed to their opponents whose expensive timepieces require over one hundred components. Their next inspired move was to produce Swatch watches using cheaper materials. Moreover, they started producing the watches in cheap manufacturing plants. This is how the Swatch watch managed to remain affordable and popular. It was its popularity from the eighties that led to a great number of customers and therefore the company was able to keep their prices down.

However, things changes in the nineties, and their sales fell so dramatically, that they had to revert to their old ways and bring simple designs back to life, with a touch of luxury, though. This is how today’s trends for the Swatch watches were born, and we are now witnessing such an overwhelming range of designs and functions, that sometimes we actually find it hard to believe that we are dealing with a genuine Swatch watch.

In spite of the variety of Swatch watches available on the market today, their producers have kept true to their initial goal, that of providing potential clients with high quality watches. Whatever their design or functions may be, the Swatch watches are and will always be high quality products.

Swatch is a brand that has irrevocably demonstrated its outstanding technical capabilities, when the Swatch watch was chosen the Official Timekeeper in major sports events such as Olympic Games or Ski and Snowboard World Cups.

For great variety of swatch watches please visit this links . Also for the french version you can visit montre swatch and for the spanish version you can visit relogio swatch

So you’re out mowing your lawn one day. You happen to glance up from your beat-up old mower across the street, where your neighbor is pulling into his driveway in a brand new luxury sedan while a team of hired gardeners carefully manicure his lush green yard. You don’t get it. His house is the same size as yours and you know the jobs that he and his wife have aren’t anything special. How does he have so many more toys than you? How can he afford them?
Well, rest easy my hard-working friend; if he’s like many Americans, he can’t. He’s just another victim of our country’s endless pursuit for bigger and better material possessions, regardless of if we can afford them or not. Sure a brief moment of jealousy might come over you for a moment or two, but it’ll pass. Resist that urge to “keep up with the Joneses”; you’ll be happy you did.
Why we do it
Americans are nothing if not great spenders. Status-symbolism runs rampant in our country, and today’s advertising would have you believe that everything is within your financial reach. With loans and credit cards available in a moment’s notice, we believe it too. But spending carelessly without real cash resources to back up the habit is putting us in bigger and bigger financial holes. So why do we do it?
Studies on the “affluenza” epidemic reveal several reasons why Americans spend the way they do. First, we work hard. The average American spends hours commuting to an unsatisfying job. Spending is a way to release the stress of the everyday grind while justifying why we slave away for 40-plus hours a week.
Also, television has made us believe that high-end items like BMWs and Tag Heuer wristwatches are to be had by everyday working stiffs, not just the super-rich elite.
These are both valid reasons, but what really drives our ultra-spending is our own insecurities and jealousies. Though it’s a fact that everybody struggles from time to time, we all want to project the image that we’re set financially and can afford the luxuries of life. This approach is just the beginning of a vicious cycle.
We all want to compare ourselves to our peers and own material goods that are on par or better than anything they have. We never stop to think about the poor or the homeless we see on the streets and stop to count our financial blessings. The endless quest for bigger and better toys makes us lose sight of what’s really important in life. In the meantime, we bury ourselves in massive amounts of debt that we’ll be hard pressed to ever climb out from under.
How to stop it
You can inoculate against affluenza, however. Start simply by setting a few long term goals. Planning on seeing the world after retirement? Then before you buy that RV now, picture yourself in 20 years on that African safari with your spouse. Don’t let purchases now affect future dreams. Sure, it’s not easy to sacrifice instant gratification for something far into the future. But just remember, a little willpower goes a long way.

Cartier was found in 1847 by Louis-Francois Cartier. Less than 30 years later, in 1874, Cartier’s son, Alfred, took over the running of the company. Yet, it was the grandsons of Louis-Francois, Louis, Pierre, and Jacques, who really made the name Cartier as popular as it is today.

The Cartier’s retained the ownership and the direction of the company until 1964 when the sons of Jacques and Louis and the daughter of Pierre sold the business. Yet, this did not last for very long. Between the years of 1974 and 1976 Cartier and its affiliates in New York City and London were bought back by the Cartier family.

Cartier now has some of their largest and most luxurious stores in New York, Waikiki, San Francisco, Tokyo, Boston, Beverly Hills, Paris, London, Vancouver, and Shanghai.

The Cartier brand is known for extravagant, elegant and luxurious jewelry and watches. Currently, they have collections of purses and bags, watches, fragrances, pens, eyewear, lighters, clocks, cufflinks, scarves, rings, necklaces, earrings, and other pieces of jewelry.

Cartier’s watches cost in the thousands and tens of thousands of dollars, ranging from the just over a thousand all the way up to nearly one hundred thousand dollars. Their pieces are not to be taken lightly and are for people who are looking for the absolute best in fine timepieces.

Many of the finer Cartier wristwatches are very stylized with ornate designs and surprising colors. Their collections range from these quite artistic watches to the simple yet fine classic watches.

Cartier has many watch collections. Its collections include the Collection Privee Cartier Paris, Cartier D’art, Declaration, Lanieres, La Dona de Cartier, Santos de Cartier, Ballerine, Baignoire, and Ronde Louis Cartier – to name but a few.

Collection Privee Cartier Paris entails 53 watches that encompass the basic, sleek, black and white look of the modern businessman. Most of the watches in this collection have an 18 carat pink gold face with an alligator band. They also have a water resistance of 100 feet.

The Cartier D’art collection has an almost exotic feel to it. These beautiful, specially-made watches with intricate designs of animals and landmarks from across the world are definitely one of a kind. One watch, is exclusive to the country of Russia (the Santos 100) and is made with an 18 carat yellow gold octagonal crown with diamonds. It has a drawing of the Kremlin in the face with three diamonds inside. It’s also made with a blue alligator strap and has a water resistance of 100 feet.

Lastly, the La Dona de Cartier collection is a decadent array of feminine yet bold watches. Watches in this collection have light pink and dark red bands and 18 carat white and yellow gold bracelets, some of which are set with diamonds. All of these have the same basic design with an octagonal crown, with two different sizes. They also have a water resistance of 100 feet.

The model struts down the catwalk, flaunting the outfit she is wearing. Onlookers frantically scribble down information or type on their laptops as they quickly make an assessment of the clothing being paraded. In the meantime, the model walks towards the end of the runway where the designer clothing’s label is printed. She stops, strikes a pose, and then executes a well-rehearsed turn.
The dress the model is wearing is part of the new line of one of the hottest clothing designers in the country, and will be hitting specialty stores soon. It comes with a price tag that will make most people swoon. There’s no denying, however, that no matter how expensive the model’s clothes may be, someone will always want it. The rich will snap it off couture houses; the middle class will settle for similar-looking versions. It can’t be denied. Modern society has become obsessed with designer products, and the popularity of designer bar stools is only one of many examples. Designer Dollars
From wristwatches to shoes and from luggage to clocks, it seems society cannot get enough of designer products. While a broad range of designer products exist on the market, designer fashions are the most lucrative and famous. To show this reality, consider that the U.S. government reported the average income of fashion designers for 2005 to be about $67,000. In 2000, the highest 10 percent of fashion designers’ earnings was over $100,000! You can be certain that many fashion designers spend hours perfecting their craft while seated on various designer bar stools. Counterfeit Caliber
While the public is certainly fascinated with designer clothes and designer products in general, what creates this interest? Why do many consumers often choose designer products over cheaper name brand and store brand products? One reason is that consumers often believe that name brand products have higher qualities than other products. However, when comparing the ingredients of many food products, for example, they are often basically the same for both store brand products and their equivalent name brand products.
Does this mean that you are always getting the same value when you buy knockoff products? Not at all. Recently, it was reported that almost 20 percent of China’s domestic products were unable to reach minimum quality control standards. Even more problematic is that made-in-China products are often sold in foreign markets to increase corporate profit margins. American companies such as Wal-Mart sell numerous made-in-China products on their shelves, while it has been estimated that China produces half of the European Union’s knockoff market! Besides food, counterfeit products compromise the quality of other types of products, such as designer bar stools. Superb Stools
When shopping for bar stools, stick with original designer bar stools. These products are sold in a variety of styles that generally look more contemporary and sleeker than typical bar stools. Also, designer bar stools are made of the finest products, which is typically not the case with knockoff products. Thirdly, designers of designer bar stools have spent hours upon hours to create these original seats. Buying knockoff versions to save a few dollars is simply a slap in the face to creativity and good old-fashioned hard work.
The world of designer products continues to expand and improve. By choosing original designer bar stools, you are abetting the evolution of innovation and quality.

January is a time to look ahead and make predictions.

January is a time to look ahead and make predictions.

As I look ahead, I can see one major trend. And it’s one that will have repercussions for the economy as a whole. That trend involves baby boomers. Boomers have been a major factor in consumer spending, saving, and investing for 50 years. So it’s likely they will continue to be. In fact, they will probably affect the economy for the rest of their lives – for the next 20 to 25 years.

If you accept this premise, the following 22 predictions may make sense to you:

1. Baby boomers will get poorer this year. They lost half of their retirement nest egg when the tech bubble exploded. And they have been losing much of the rest of it as real estate prices come down. This will continue in 2008. Credit will be harder to come by. Banks will get tougher with loans. And the many businesses that took stock in the real estate boom will continue to implode.

2. Scared by their shrinking wealth, some boomers will make one final, frenzied attempt to “get back” the wealth they never really had. They’ll scrape together their last dollars. They’ll borrow money. And they’ll use it to make high-risk, leveraged financial investments in such things as currencies and commodities. The greediest sectors of the financial services industry will benefit, temporarily, from this short-term trend. Later, they will suffer from it as their customers disappear.

3. As 2008 ends, boomers’ speculative investments will fail to rescue them. So they will grudgingly accept the fact that they will never be as wealthy as they wanted to be. They will feel defeated, and they won’t have the energy to start anew. As a result, they will drastically decrease their discretionary spending.

4. Following the boomers’ lead, consumer spending in general will slow down. The Fed will do what it can, but it won’t be enough. Lower credit rates won’t be enough to stimulate the economy. Growth will slow. Businesses will continue to go bankrupt at record rates.

5. With decreasing revenues on one side and increasing fixed costs (related to real estate) on the other, retail will be especially hard hit. Many, if not most, medium-sized retail businesses that exist today will be defunct within 10 years.

6. On the bright side, Internet spending will continue to grow. But the growth will be much slower than in the past. Lots of opportunities will allow people to make money by marketing products and services on the Internet. But many of those who are in business today will go bankrupt as the market becomes more competitive.

7. Estate homes and multimillion-dollar condominiums will tumble in value, even below current prices. Many will be left vacant. It will take at least seven years for many of the properties that have been built in the past two years to be occupied. Investors in these properties will be wiped out.

8. More than 80 percent of the existing real estate development industry will go bankrupt.

9. Following real estate development will be the larger part of the banking and financial services industry. Thousands of young investment bankers and hedge fund managers will be out of work. This could happen as early as the middle of next year.

10. As the U.S. economy slides into a protracted recession, baby boomers will recognize that they are poorer than their parents were when their parents were in their early sixties. Without the appreciation of a house to cash in on, they will give up their long-held dreams of retiring comfortably at 65.

11. Luxury will be uncool. Understated elegance will be in.

12. The campaign against conspicuous consumption will accelerate. Twelve-cylinder cars will be ridiculed and possibly outlawed entirely.

13. Hippie values will return. Peace and love and blue jeans will prevail… simply because baby boomers won’t be able to afford to indulge themselves materialistically as they have been doing for 40 years.

14. Technology and the baby boomers’ shrinking wealth will favor products that are simple and small.

15. The wristwatch will begin a 20-year disappearing act.

16. Yoga, meditation, and Pilates will continue to increase in popularity. Aerobics, weight training, and kickboxing will diminish.

17. Yachts, luxury automobiles, and Learjets will stand in warehouses, unused.

18. Migration to the Sun Belt will slow because of hurricanes and high prices. Local Sun Belt municipalities will be forced to lower taxes. Services will decline.

19. Technical jobs will continue to be outsourced to India and Latin America. And in the U.S., boomers will start to agree to work phones and read X-rays for minimum wage.

20. The information-publishing industry – particularly the specialized information-publishing industry – will continue to grow, outpacing the general economy. Entrepreneurs who understand the difference between information, advice, and opinion will make fortunes.

21. Direct marketing will continue to grow as general advertising declines. Businesses that are unskilled at direct marketing will have a tough time staying competitive. Many will fail.

22. Boomers will “decide” to continue working during their retirement years. But many of them – lacking the skills to contribute to the Internet, information-publishing, or direct-marketing industries – will go unemployed.

Those are my predictions for 2008. But what good are such predictions? Can they make you any money?

I don’t know. I do know a few things about investing in trends, though. Lessons I’ve learned from a lifetime of starting all sorts of businesses. For example:

    * You can make the biggest money on a new trend that emerges quickly and grows strongly… if you get in early.

    * It’s difficult to predict new trends with precision. You can sometimes see that a certain change is inevitable, but it is often difficult to know when it will happen. Usually, it happens later than you expect.

    * For any given day or week or month, chances are good – some studies say 70 percent – that things will remain the same the following day or week or month. That’s why it doesn’t usually pay to play trends in the stock market. Unless, that is, you know what you’re doing or are getting good advice from someone who does.

    * The sensible way to invest in trends is to buy into good businesses that provide neutral or positive cash flow. That gives you a Plan B. You can sit out short-term fluctuations while you wait for the long-term trend to take hold.

    * Sometimes even medium- and shorter-term trends are more obvious. This is especially true on the downside. Such is the case with the baby boomer driven economy today.

Emmett, a friend and business partner in real estate development, doesn’t like it when I speak negatively about the future of the economy, and real estate in particular. He feels like I am being disloyal to the businesses he is running. He would rather have me encourage him to go full steam ahead. He seems to feel that if I were more positive, things would get better.

“I hope you’re right,” I tell him. “But no amount of hoping is going to make the U.S. debt go away. And no amount of positive thinking will get people to buy property if they don’t have any money and can’t get credit.”

“Anything you can conceive, you can achieve,” he tells me.

“So long as you achieve it before you go broke,” I reply.

Hope for the best. But make your business plans based on a realistic assessment of current trends. Hoping against hope works in fairy tales. But in the real-life world of business, it’s better to put aside the rose-colored glasses.

If I am right about the future for baby boomers, it won’t be the end of the financial world. People who are smart enough to put their time and money into developing industries (such as direct-marketing, information-publishing, and Internet-related businesses) will do well. Others, like my friend Emmett who lives in Never-Never Land, will get poorer.

There is nothing more annoying than being late when you’re traveling. Whether it’s an important meeting or catching a plane or train, you do not want to over sleep. While you can rely on hotel wake-up services or the clock radio in your room, it’s always good to have a back-up plan. Your own travel clock will insure that you do not miss anything important. There’s a fantastic array of models and types available to please even the fussiest sleeper. The standard analog or digital travel alarm clock will fit easily into your lightweight luggage and they are not very expensive. They are available either with regular AA or AAA batteries, or with the button style battery that is used in wristwatches. They all have an alarm but many have extra features. All travel alarm clocks fold up compactly and are built to withstand the rigors of travel. Clamshell models have been available for many years while the newer models are made of more lightweight materials. There are travel alarms available with backlights, dual alarms or dual time, room temperature gauges and snooze buttons. Another popular feature is the date calendar with month, day and week display. Some of the models have atomic clocks that are set by the U.S. Atomic Clock via radio control. They are equipped with U.S. time or world time. These clocks will reset themselves to the correct time in each new time zone.

One of the newest features available are clocks that have a light on during the night. These are equipped with Auto Light Sensors that turn a light on when the clock detects darkness. The light can stay on all night or be turned off with a switch. These lights last over 2400 hours using only 1 AA battery. Other models have a nightlight that comes on automatically when the alarm is set. For those that like to sleep without the nightlight, there are models with a push button light if you need to check the time in the middle of the night. World time alarm clocks are favorites with the international traveler. They can easily see what time it is in all parts of the world. This certainly beats waking up family or friends in the middle of the night by accident. Travel clock radios are also popular. These are only slightly larger than the standard travel alarm, but will wake you to music if that is what you have become accustomed to using at home. All of these small travel clocks are reliable and easy to take along in your discount luggage. They are compact enough to tuck inside a shoe or sneaker. The travel clocks all have quart accuracy. These handy and reliable clocks are available from companies such as Easy-go, Franzus, and Oregon Scientific, as well as the larger clock companies such as Seth Thomas, Bulova and Seiko. You can find a style to suit everyone in every price range. Some of the dated models will also show the day of the week in a choice of languages that range from English to French or Spanish. If you have trouble sleeping, there are models with soothing sounds to lull you to sleep.

Some of the most elegant styles of travel clocks are available from the premium watchmaker, Movado. These travel clocks are beautifully made and handsome enough to grace guest rooms in your home. They also make ideal corporate gifts, and can be individually engraved or silk-screened with company logos. They are always well received as they are practical and useful which is always a winner as a gift idea. They are also popular for usher gifts, and for birthdays and anniversaries. Movado makes some of their models with dual-time, so you will know what time it is at home or at your next destination. Leather cases are included with other models. They all have the distinctive and easily recognizable Movado museum look.

These easy to carry travel alarm clocks are also popular with the college crowd. The most important feature they look for are the ascending alarm and the snooze button. The ascending alarms continue to get louder and louder until the clock is shut off. Grundig is of course a leader with the travel clock radios. They make many models that are ideal for travel and have world bands. There are ultra slim models that will fit in your pocket. The cover of the clock face doubles as the stand. These ultra slim travel clocks are easily packed away with your other travel accessories. Some of the dual time alarms flip from analog to digital. Their 2 1/4″ x 1″ size means it can go anywhere. College students also like the dual-time models with touch-sensor screen programming. These simultaneously display two time zones with two alarm settings for those busy travelers. No more excuses for being late!
